Adopt a dog

Save a life!

Nancy's Rescued and Wagging Tails. We are a family run foster home in Manchester aiming to provide hand-picked, high-quality rescue dogs to enrich peoples lives. Our dogs are vetted for good character, have a comprehensive health check and have practiced basic training.

How we started

Our story is very simple; we are a dog–loving family. We have busy lives with jobs, studies and kids - just your average family!

A few years ago we adopted Niki, a dog from Greece (pictured below). She was a stray that appeared outside the home of a good friend of ours, and when we saw her over the Internet we instantly fell in love! Seven years later we could not be happier with this gentle, beautiful and complex dog.

We wanted to give other people the chance to have such an amazing companion, whilst at the same time helping stray dogs. We don’t need to tell the world that Greece is in a dire economic crisis and dogs are just a few of the innocent victims in need of help.

So we ask, why breed when you can rescue?

What we do

We bring in one dog at a time from Greece (when our schedule permits) and foster them in a home environment. Through this we are able to provide basic training and socialization, and by the time they are ready to go into their new family, most are fully integrated into living with humans. We vett them to make sure they have no major behavioral or physical problems before they even get here, and all are vaccinated and neutered (if at appropriate age) covered largely by charitable donations to the shelters in Greece (donations can be made on the 'contact us' page).

We make no profit whatsoever but we ask to cover the transport costs and a small donation to the shelter of origin.

Our dogs come from three shelters/volunteer groups in Greece that we know well and trust:

- Halkidiki Animal Rescue in Halkidiki

- Frontizo in Thessaloniki

- Diasozo in Karditsa

We believe that a dog in need knows no borders. We won't change the world, but we want to do our part, and do it well! If you buy into our philosophy, adopt from us!
